Elaine Borg is a General and Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. She completed her M.D. (Melit) in 2010, M.R.C.S (Edin) in 2012 and MSc in Surgical Sciences with the University of Edinburgh in 2013. She successfully passed F.E.B.S. in General Surgery in 2017, F.R.C.S. (Edin) in 2018 and F.E.B.S. in Breast Surgery in 2019. She was successful in obtaining a coveted Lord Moynihan Oncoplastic and Breast Reconstructive Fellowship in Leeds. Her PhD is on heterogeneity in breast cancer. She worked as a Breast Consultant in Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery at York Hospital, UK and is now based in Malta and Gozo. She is involved in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels locally and abroad with the University of Malta, the University of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Apart from general surgery, she also performs specialist breast conservation techniques for cancer patients, including therapeutic mammoplasty and a variety of techniques for breast reconstruction, as well as cosmetic surgery like breast reduction, mastopexy and breast augmentation. She is the Secretary General of the Association of Surgeons of Malta (ASM) and was recently appointed to the Education and Training Committee Breast Working Group of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO).
