how we help

The Women for Women Foundation is a women-led registered NGO (V/O 1961) dedicated to promoting gender equity. Due to disproportionate child-rearing, caregiving, and family responsibilities, women often suffer from poverty and educational setbacks.

Our mission is to equip women and girls with the tools to build their own independent lives. We believe that by empowering and enabling women and girls, we not only address critical issues of inequality and poverty but also unlock a wealth of talent and capabilities that can drive societal progress.

EMPLOYMENT AS EMPOWERMENT

Central to our approach is an employment-led empowerment model in which paid work is a core intervention. By intentionally employing women facing barriers to labour-market participation, the Foundation delivers direct impact aligned with SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Roles are remunerated at fair and market-appropriate rates, in line with our commitment to decent work. While this approach increases administrative costs, these costs represent an investment in gender equality, decent work, and reduced inequalities rather than traditional overheads.

HOW WE SUPPORT WOMEN

We support vulnerable women and girls with the resources needed to continue their education, retain their jobs, and assist them in raising their children in healthy, safe environments. Upon referral and thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, we can provide basics like fresh food, clothing, sanitary items, baby supplies and equipment, contraception, educational equipment and supplies, and much more. We can offer child minding services, therapeutic sessions, pest control services, and driving lessons. We offer mentoring in combating domestic violence, financial literacy, and women’s health. We also provide other training needed to realise and achieve one’s goals.

At Women for Women, we support women in every choice they make for themselves, no matter where they come from or where they’re headed. Whether it’s about family, work, or personal dreams, we believe every woman deserves the freedom to choose her own path. Our community is built on understanding, respect, and the belief that when women thrive, so does society. We’re proud to stand by women from all walks of life, offering guidance, encouragement, and solidarity every step of the way.

I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to Women to Women. Late last year I asked for some assistance for my 3 children. Within 3 days the ladies had all rallied together to help us out with food for an entire month and some into the next and warm winter clothing as well. We were so stunned and blown away by the kindness of this group. Not only did they do all that but even assisted us with a deposit for a new flat and a wonderful Christmas hamper and presents for my 3 boys. These ladies have gone above and beyond and I cannot express my gratitude to them enough.

I contacted Francesca when I was in a desperate situation. I couldn't afford to pay the bills and sometimes not even food. Thanks to Francesca that posted my plea for help, not only was I listened to and encouraged not to give up, but I was also helped with clothes and toys both for my child and myself. I had a huge Arms bill that thanks to everyone it was paid. We received vouchers and food that helped us going on until our situation got better. I have only words of praise for all those ladies that helped us and supported us. I am sure this foundation will help many more women in need!

It's not easy living on social assistance. Being a single mum of four kids it has always been a struggle to put food on the table, pay bills and rent. There was never a way I had enough money to fix what broke around the house. My bathroom was in such a bad state, leakages, broken tiles and sink, and so much mould that it became a health hazard with everyone coughing. I desperately needed help on this one. I first contacted Ilona and sent her some pics. She then passed me on to Francesca from Women for Women. Francesca promised me that they will help me out somehow, it was a sigh of relief. I did not expect anything more than fixing the pipes, taking care of the mould and maybe a new sink. Within three months they found a very kind soul who provided me with a brand new complete shower set, toilet, sink, tiles and all accessories. She knew about my health problems, knew that a shower would be much better than a bath. The foundation then paid for all the rest. To everyone else this could be just a shower but to me it meant much more than that. I was overwhelmed by the kindness of these beautiful souls and forever I will be so grateful. This foundation unlike other foundations does not stop with providing material things, it goes way beyond that, it empowers women and makes sure their lives are changed for the better. I just have no words to thank you enough. Bless you all.
