Consultant Paediatric Surgeon
I graduated from the University of Malta in 2002 at the age of 23 years and started my surgical training in 2004. The world of paediatric surgery enticed me, and I started my paediatric surgery training in 2008. In 2010 I moved to London to further my training at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and later at St George’s Hospital. I returned to Malta in October 2018 to continue working in the Department of Paediatric Surgery at Mater Dei Hospital. In May 2021, I took up my appointment as a consultant (also at Mater Dei Hospital).
As paediatric surgeons, we have a vital role in a spectrum of childhood surgical diseases, and our intervention must help that child have a fulfilling lifetime. Children are the best patients – they view the world through different eyes from adults, and one is continuously learning from them.
